HOPE HOLE lays down the heavy rock riffs and rough vocals with an undercurrent of joyful nihilism that Fuzzy really digs. Hope Hole isn't afraid to chuck around a little acoustic guitar, some keys, and epic solos as the mood fits them. "Anything to keep things ominous" seems to be the band's motto. Or as the band says, "Goth-infected doom metal from the heartland, USA." I'm surprised how catchy the riffs are on this album, and the start-to-finish quality means this will get a lot of repeated plays. Any fan of 70s rock anthems such as Meatloaf or Rocky Horror are going to absolutely love Hope Hole. And you get a cover of The Cure to top things off. Listen to "Death Can Change" from Hope Hole on Bandcamp:
Fuzzy's Favorite: "Death Can Change" because I can't resist a good sample, and this song is just a catchy as the rest (and maybe "Hallucinating You" is the catchiest of them all).
Hope Hole is the duo of Matt Snyder and Mike Mullholand from Toledo, Ohio.
From the band:
Hope Hole was created during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. Matt wrote some songs, and Mike's leads and keys made them better
With a heavy alt rock sound that is more like UN-caged wolves, Austria's CAGED WOLVES have dropped their new album "Act Of Nature Beyond Control" with nearly an hour of riff-laden, fuzzed-out songs with intense vocals. Deep bass, chugging guitar, and driving drums -- Caged Wolves delivers a seriously heavy set of rockers. Listen to "Act Of Nature Beyond Control" EP by Caged Wolves on Bandcamp:
If you're old school (like me), you will consider Caged Wolves to easily fit into the style of grunge, with their heavy riffs and style that takes them beyond your typical rock band.
In a way, this is a double-EP. The 2nd set of 3 songs are the instrumental versions. I really dig having the option to hear the songs with- and with-out vocals, although overall its the versions with vocals which are strongest.
Fuzzy's favorite: "Through The Rainbow Valley" hits the heavy riffs, extended guitar solos, and intense vocals that make Caged Wolves stand out. This is a really solid EP.
Heavy rockers from Mexico "3 Wheeler Band" with the new official video "The Night" from "333" -- listen to the full EP on Bandcamp:
3 Wheeler Band has CDs for "Space Tribe" and "Smoke N' Groove" with shipping from either Mexico or USA -- grab one at https://3wheelerband.bandcamp.com/merch
"Warped Existence" by EVEN VAST has just gotten a release on CD from MOON RELIC RECORDS, with the addition of 5 live tracks. If you missed the album during its original release, here is your chance to discover Even Vast's heavy rock sound with some elements of grunge and doom, and absolutely killer vocals. Check out "Warped Existence" from Even Vast on Bandcamp:
I did some quick research on Even Vast, and it seems they have been around a while and started off in Italy, with a relocation to the UK and a resurgence in 2018 with "Inside Your Head" and finally this album following up in 2019. Now that they have signed with MOON RELIC RECORDS and released the remastered album on CD, I am sure we are going to hearing a lot more from Even Vast!
The live tracks really push this beast over the top, both in terms of overall length and it's always great to get live versions. But what makes these so special for me is the inclusion of the saxophone. The sax is an instrument is a rare instrument in the stoner world, but if it was good enough for The Stooges, then it should be good enough for more bands! And it sounds absolutely killer here. (The sax is on the studio cuts too, and it seems to really stand out on the live versions.)
This release is really a double album. With 5 live tracks, you can't say that you aren't getting value for your money with this!
I've got a copy of the CD on the way and I can't wait to spin it!
SKYACRE is a fuzzed-out grunge band from Austin which just dropped their 2nd album "Protectors And Guardians" after a long hiatus from their debut record. There's all the heavy rock you want from a grunge album, along with an angrier musical edge like you might hear from Mudhoney, but with pissed-off political lyrics you usually find only in punk or protest songs. Fuzzy really digs this album so check it out:
The album has a great sonic flow. It's consistently fuzzed-out and high-energy, but it contains some slower moments to keep things rising and falling to maintain your interest from start to finish. Always the mark of a good album.
Fuzzy's Favorite: "The Human Bees"
From the band:
Dynamic, melodic Heavy Psych/Grunge rock band from Austin,Tx.
Follow SkyAcre on Bandcamp and get the news about their upcoming vinyl, and check out their video on YouTube for "The Halo Getters" --

It's been a few years since we heard from Finland's STONEGAZER, and Fuzzy's guess is that the band spent all that time recording the perfect heavy stoner rock album. Heavy without going fuzz, rock without going metal, stoner without quite getting into grunge. Check out "The End of Our World" out now on CD and LP from Kozmik Artifactz:
Every one of the 7 songs on "The End of Our World" is powerful and driving, and Fuzzy points out that "Bring Down The Rain" and "No Grace To Fall From" are the best of the best. Great guitar work, never-ending rhythms, and phenomenal singing.
Finnish stoner band StoneGazer released their first LP through Kozmik Artifactz as CD and vinyl on 24.4.2020
StoneGazer band is from Finland with the members:
Juho - kitara
Late - kitara
Tomas- basso
Jallu - rummut
Jussi - laulu
From StoneGazer band:
The End of Our World has lyrical themes ranging from the inherent shortcomings of the current system and the impending ecological disaster to critique of the unlearned lessons in history regarding demagogues. Lyrically The End of Our World is not a concept album, but an album that is a collection of songs that reflect the contemporary and take a stand where one needs to be taken.
Fuzzy is embarrassed to admit I have not heard COBRA THIEF before, but I'll catch up by saying their sound floats along the dividing line between heavy psych and stoner rock in a way that is definitely unique and that I really dig! Yesterday was the first warm day of the year here in The Swamp, so me and Mrs. Cracklins knocked back a few stiff ones out on the patio while we let our neighbors listen to this at maximum volume, and they loved it! And so did we! Check out "Animal Oxygen" from Cobra Thief:
We enjoyed the album so much we played it again this morning to see how to sounds while sober, and it still sounds great. I gotta say, it is the rare album that everyone in the Cracklins Clan can agree on, but this is one of them.
This album is one fuzzy heavy hitter after the next, and the best is saved for last with "Graveyard Earth" which can only be described as a stoner psych anthem. The tone, the length, the lyrics, the fuzz..... this is a great song.
Every song just knocks it out of the park. After each heavy hitter, I was expecting a song that took a little breather, but nope -- the next one is just as hard and loud as the others. Fuzzy digs this album!
COBRA THIEF is:
Charlie: Bass/Vocals
Kevin: Drums
Paul: Guitar/Vocals
From the band:
Cobra Thief is a perfect mix of Kyuss, Soundgarden and Mountain. Deep, spaced out Rock’N’Roll since 2017.
Be sure to follow the band on Bandcamp to stay up on their news.
Get the vinyl at Cobra Thief's Bandcamp page or from their web site:
Fuzzy has been to Jersey. Fuzzy has partied in Jersey. Hard. MOLTEN HIGH is from Jersey. I didn't ask the band for an interview, but their debut album "Bullfrog" is the next best thing. This high-octane party soundtrack says what an interview couldn't anyway, unless the band was going to play it live. This album is pure energy from start to finish and it's here to power your next party. You supply the beer and weed and pizza, and let Molten High deliver the hard rock tunes. Check out "Bullfrog" from Molten High:
Fuzzy always says, an album has gotta sound good from start to finish to count as good album. And "Bullfrog" does it with its rocket-launch first couple of tracks, a slight detour to take a breather in the middle, and then brings it home with an explosive finish. These dudes know how to party and deliver your next party's soundtrack.
You'll catch some fun lyrics ready to smack down social media and modern life in general on "T.S.A." and "Shut Up" not that you'll be sober enough at your party to understand them.
There's some really great solo guitar work and top rate production throughout. This one rips! Go get Bullfrog by Molten High.
Molten High is from Hoboken with members:
Dave Calamoneri - Bass & vocals
Bill Hamilton - Guitar & vocals
Chuck Tumulty - Drums & vocals
Doug Vannoni - Guitar & vocals
From the band:
Our sound is inspired by bands like Fu Manchu, Clutch, Kyuss, Melvins. We self-released our debut LP called "Bullfrog" in November. Eight tracks of sludgy stoner goodness. We tracked and mixed it with Mike Moebius at Moonlight Mile Recording (Natur, Pilgrim, Kings Destroy all worked with Mike too).
DESERTS OF MARS new heavy rock EP "Return from the Void"
20 minutes of badass heavy rock is waiting for you on the new EP from DESERTS OF MARS. It's been a few years since their last album, and by the sound of it the band has been saving up the hard fuzzy riffs until they were ready to be unleashed. This set of tracks doesn't slow down at any point, and the vocals soar over the fuzz to deliver one of the best hard rocks albums I've heard this year. Check out "Return from the Void" from Deserts of Mars:
Deserts of Mars is from Austin and its members are:
Tony Salvaggio – Founding/lead member of DoM whose growling bass has been known to shake the stars and is the perfect complement to his melodic vocals.
Morgan Faber - A drum powerhouse from another galaxy, laying waste to foes with thunderous fury.
Bradley Barnes - Heavy Axe-Slinger extraordinaire, his guitar is known to soothe the stars or shatter planets, whatever the Mars Metal deems necessary.
From the band:
Austin, TX based Deserts of Mars was formed in 2006 with a heavy fuzzed out bass sound and the idea that the Riff Rules ALL!!!
If your band compares itself to Fu Manchu, Cluth, Nebula, and Thin Lizzy then it better deliver some hard ass rock & roll with killer vocals. Which exactly what the hard rock vets in ALBATROSS OVERDRIVE deliver on "Ascendant" with seven tracks that rip and roar with chugging guitar riffs with the singing to hammer the music home. Listen to the Bandcamp stream of Ascendant by Albatross Overdrive:
There's nothing but high octane riffage on this album. Every song delivers power guitar work, a rhythm section that won't let up, and strong vocals. The hard rock American sound is backed by the lyrics which sing to the struggles and corruption we confront everyday. These lyrics are a lot more involved than you typically find on a hard rocker.
Albatross Overdrive formed in 2004 in So Cal with members:
Art Campos- Vocals
Rodney Peralta- Drums
Derek W. Phillips- Guitar
Andrew Luddy- Guitar
Mark Abshire- Bass
From the band:
We are an extremely attractive and well polished band with high levels of formal music training. Our ears are honed to that of a canine and possess the animal magnetism of a lion...A roaring lion with a large coarse mane, we captivate our audiences like a black demon cobra...I can't keep a straight face writing this....
Albatross Overdrive fans will be happy to know that the band is 8 songs deep into the next Full Length record which they hope to start recording early 2020.
It's Friday and there's no better way to enjoy the weekend than with some friends, some booze, and some heavy ass rock! You have to supply the friends and beer, but DEEP VALLEY BLUES brings the stoner rock to the party with their debut album DEMONIC SUNSET. This album rips from start to finish, its got killer guitar solos, and the vocals are as rough and nasty as the music. Check out DEMONIC SUNSET:
What ya got on this debut album is 8 tracks of heavy rock with the vocals to match, with some standout guitar work going on. Don't let the pun-ful song titles throw you off. These songs are serious rockers, and in fact "Lust Vegas" is a real slow heavy instrumental burner with (another) killer guitar solo.
Standout songs: Lust Vegas, Tired to Beg For, Empire, Demonic Sunset
Deep Valley Blues is:
Umberto Arena (Guitars and Backing Vocals)
Alessandro Morrone (Guitars)
Giando Sestito (Bass and Vocals)
Giorgio Faini (Drums)
From the band:
The Deep Valley Blues project was born in Catanzaro (Calabria) in 2016 from the desire of two restless musicians, Umberto Arena (ex-Bad Trip) and Giandomenico Sestito (Dripping Sin). The two, eager to break through eardrums, after several line-up changes, recruit two old acquaintances, Giorgio Faini and Alessandro Morrone, already known for their militancy in groups like Amorphead and Emily Witch. Once stability is reached and the way to go is decided, they give life to their first ep, recorded live in the studios of BLACK HORSE STUDIO, with the homonymous title "Deep Valley Blues". The sound of the band has its roots in sounds that oscillate between heavy Sludge / Stoner veins and Blues / Southern rhythms, nevertheless not limiting the desire to experiment.
