Drone doom metal "Sakura" from Italy's NIGHTSCAPE drops April 24 on Bandcamp -- review by Fuzzy Cracklins of The Swamp Records

Drone doom metal "" from Italy's NIGHTSCAPE drops on April 24 on Bandcamp album music review by Fuzzy Cracklins of The Swamp Records

Italy’s NIGHTSCAPE drifts back out of the void with "Sakura", a four-track descent into meditative drone that trades sheer weight for atmosphere and slow-burn immersion.

With 4 tracks and an experimental new direction, NIGHTSCAPE lays down over 40 minutes of mesmerizing drone metal. The opening track “Mirror Lake” opens like a still body of water at dusk—calm on the surface, but with a low-end rumble underneath that hints something heavier is waiting below. Continuing the theme of nature, the album continues with "Floating Petals" which uplifts the sound into a more epic direction. "Slow Peach" does indeed slow down the pace while maintaining the meditative groove, and "Clear Wind" closes out "Sakura" while continuing the doomgaze in a thoughtful, psychedelic style.

"Sakura" represents a new direction for NIGHTSCAPE and it's a good one. If you’re into drone that breathes instead of crushes—music that leans more toward meditation than monolith—Sakura is worth sinking into.

About the band:

Founded in 2025, with a stronger psychedelic influence, drawing on stoner, doom, noise, drone, and post-rock influences. The goal is to create a perfect harmony between clean and distorted sounds, transporting the listener, through slow, minimalist, and hypnotic riffs, to peacefully admire the vastness of the starry sky. Drawing inspiration from bands like Earth, Boris, and Bong, this project was born from a further desire to experiment with calmer and more meditative sounds.
