Stoner metal "Alive Ruins" from A BORROWING KID GENERATION

Fuzzy is excited to share the new stoner metal album from Greece's A BORROWING KID GENERATION! It's no lie to say that this band gets better and better with every release, and they started out 3 years ago with a killer sound to begin with! This album extends the band's psychedelic sound, along with longer clean guitar solos than in previous releases. Listen to A Borrowing Kid Generation's "Alive Ruins" on Bandcamp:

"Alive Ruins" blasts right out of the gate (as does every release from ABKG) and doesn't let up for 7 meaty tracks. Buzzing, fuzzy, fast-paced guitars race through their riffs without ever getting repetitive or losing sight of the mountain peaks which they so effortlessly ascend. "High Energy" doesn't really quite do this album justice. "Beyond High Energy" is more like it. 

"Alive Ruins" is a solid 45 minutes, and is just simply a badass metal album. 

"Rage Of Political Bastards (I Have A Dream)" deserves particular attention, as this is the first time that the band has made extensive use of samples in one of their songs. They really work to great effect here.

Fuzzy's Favorite: Every track on here is killer, but I'll pick "Alive Ruins" as my favorite because it demonstrates a bold new direction for ABKG. It's slower than most of their other tracks, and has deep sound to it with some killer guitar solos that really grab me. "Tambora Effect" is also a stand-out.

CACTUS FLOWERS psych rock "Solace" EP drops March 12

Houston psych rock trio CACTUS FLOWERS has their new EP "Solace" dropping on March 12, with the lead single "Do You Want Me" now spinning on Bandcamp and Spotify. This band gets a little heavier with each release, while staying true to their unique blend of Southern groove and desert psych sounds. Check out the lead single on Bandcamp from "Solace" EP:

Fuzzy got a preview of the full release, which includes 3 more tracks just as full of psych rock grooviness as the lead single, and maybe even a little fuzzier. "Razor Blade" stands out with its bass-heavy riff, "Swimming Through a Sea of Mercury" shows off the band's Southern roots, and "Dirty Double Vision" piles on the fuzzy psych riffs. All throughout we hear Murillo's vocals which are such a great match for the music. 

Cactus Flowers is definitely a must-hear for psych rock fans. The Southern flair is like icing on the cake.

EVEN VAST "Warped Existence" is now on CD from Moon Relic Records

 

"Warped Existence" by EVEN VAST has just gotten a release on CD from MOON RELIC RECORDS, with the addition of 5 live tracks. If you missed the album during its original release, here is your chance to discover Even Vast's heavy rock sound with some elements of grunge and doom, and absolutely killer vocals. Check out  "Warped Existence" from Even Vast on Bandcamp:

I did some quick research on Even Vast, and it seems they have been around a while and started off in Italy, with a relocation to the UK and a resurgence in 2018 with "Inside Your Head" and finally this album following up in 2019. Now that they have signed with MOON RELIC RECORDS and released the remastered album on CD, I am sure we are going to hearing a lot more from Even Vast!

The live tracks really push this beast over the top, both in terms of overall length and it's always great to get live versions. But what makes these so special for me is the inclusion of the saxophone. The sax is an instrument is a rare instrument in the stoner world, but if it was good enough for The Stooges, then it should be good enough for more bands! And it sounds absolutely killer here.  (The sax is on the studio cuts too, and it seems to really stand out on the live versions.)

This release is really a double album. With 5 live tracks, you can't say that you aren't getting value for your money with this!

I've got a copy of the CD on the way and I can't wait to spin it!
