Code Drop & Review for "Nature Heart Mother" by A.J. Kaufmann psychedelic rock

Code Drop & Review for "Nature Heart Mother" by A.J. Kaufmann psychedelic rock

Grab a code below to add the latest release from Poland's A.J. Kaufmann to your Bandcamp music collection!

Experimentation is the essence of psychedelic, and A.J. Kaufmann is the essence of experimentation! Check out the latest release from "The Strange World of A.J. Kaufmann" called "Nature Heart Mother" just released on Bandcamp.

The title is a riff on Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother" but the music is all its own. "Nature Heart Mother" is its own collection of songs, improvisations and even a re-recording recorded at the Via Kosmische studio. Some of the songs are psych rockers such as "Get Ya Dig" while others are more introspective such as the title track. What ties all of the songs together is a love for & dedication to the idea that psychedelic music is all about experimentation -- trying out new sounds & vibes.

This album is definitely a "must-listen" for any fan of the modern psychedelic music scene. Check it out! Also be sure to check out "The Hermit" also by A.J. Kaufmann on The Swamp Records https://www.fuzzycracklins.com/2024/03/psych-rock-hermit-by-aj-kaufmann-of.html

Doom psych "Abstract Expressionism" by Satan's Children

SATAN'S CHILDREN just released "Abstract Expressionism" which is their first album since 2017. Slow and heavy, with a destination in mind but in no hurry to get there. There's plenty of satanic samples, haunted house organ playing, and bone-rattling. The band calls their music "psychedelic doom" but to me it's more like "horror psych." Symphonic doom without the symphony, but with the same intent. Definitely the soundtrack for your next escape room experience -- from a haunted mansion. Or graveyard burial. I'm definitely digging it, too (pun intended.) Check out "Abstract Expressionism" by Satan's Children on Bandcamp:

Fuzzy's Favorite: I usually pick a favorite song, but instead I want to pick "The Vocals" since they really stand out while fitting perfectly with the feeling of the music. And if I really have to pick a song, I'd say "Lost Chord of Creations" brings together the best of what Satan's Children has to offer. And the guitar solo in "0.1345094 Is An Intimidating Number" is not to be missed.

Satan's Children are from Vancouver -- or are they? No personnel info is available, so it's possible they are not even alive. Which explains the unearthly sound of this album.

From the band:

These kids have become an intelligent & talented musical being whose desire is to create music as a powerful mind transcending tool that everyone can use to ultimately bask in the wisdom of the ever lasting universe. Know what we're sayin?

THE MOTHERCROW blues psych MAGARA from Spain with killer vocals

MAGARA by THE MOTHERCROW
MAGARA by THE MOTHERCROW
Generous slabs of psychedelic blues and rich soulful vocals are on the menu of "Magara" the debut album Barcelona's THE MOTHERCROW. The vocals get even better with a mix of Basque and English lyrics, and the music gets even more psychedelic with keys, flute and sitar.

The Mothercrow deliver a full album of psychedelic blues on "Magara" with some tracks landing on the heavy rock side of things, and others like "Forevermore" showing us exactly how the blues and psychedelic music make for a great match. And to me, psychedelic music should embrace instruments beyond the guitars, bass, and drums to include sounds to take you on a sonic journey, so when I hear flutes and sitar on these songs (and especially in the title track) it is a wonderful thing to hear! But don't worry, there is plenty of heavy rock and soaring guitar solos.

If you dig the blues psych (and especially the vocals) of Spain's The Mothercrow, be sure to check out Italy's AyahuascA and Brazil's Spiral Guru.

From the band:
The Mothercrow is a rock band influenced by the '60 -'70 rock, based in Barcelona. The influences that define the sound of the group goes from blues and psychedelia to early 70's heaviest rock.
The Mothercrow is from Barcelona with the members:
··Karen Asensio: Vocals··
··Claudia González: Bass··
··Pep Carabante: Drums··
··Max Eriksson: Guitar··

STONE PRIEST new album PALLOR MORTIS on Oct. 30 is concept psych

Pallor Mortis from Stone Priest
Artist: Roan Bateman
https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/RoanBatemanArt
Fuzzy's friends already know how much I dig heavy psych and psych rock (hello, THE LANCASTERS) so a few months ago when the super dude at HELMET LADY RECORDS got at me with a very early mix of the new STONE PRIEST album "Pallor Mortis" it was a real treat to preview it. Despite being an early mix, it was unmistakable that this was going to be a great album. So today when he hit me with the final album, there's no more wondering how the album turned out. UNREAL as we say in The Swamp. Have a listen to the two pre-release tracks (and check back Oct. 30 for the full album):

I'm not one to give spoilers, but I'll crib what's on the album page to say that this album was not intended to be a loose concept album about death. The band tells me that was not the intent in the beginning stages of writing and recording the songs, but tragedy struck and influenced the course of the album.

This album could have been pure instrumental, and with its heavy riffs and psychedelic keyboard action it would have been an enjoyable way to spend 40 minutes. But with the vocals ... this album is given that "extra something" which makes it stand out just that much more. The singing adds a depth to the experience while at the same time giving flight to the psychedelic riffs.

It's important to note that the rest of the tracks on this pre-release just as strong and good as the 2 pre-release tracks. Check out the full album on October 30.

STONE PRIEST is from Buffalo, New York and is:
Harold Pollinger - Keys, Vox
Shea Rayhn - Drums, Vox
Christopher Delmont - Guitar, B/U Vox
Larry Gartley - Bass

SPIRAL GURU drops the perfect space rock album "Void"

SPIRAL GURU is a band that blows you away when you hear them. How has this band escaped my attention before now? Catchy heavy riffs, generous amounts of psych, and absolutely unbelievable vocals. Spiral Guru's latest album "Void" has been out only a month and it's doing well on Bandcamp, and I completely understand its success. Listen for yourself:

This whole album is so strong that it just blows me away. There is a real progression to the songs, too. The first few tracks are very strong and heavy, then things get into more of a slower psychedelic area, and finally the last track "Holy Mountain" really bangs it to a big finish. I have discovered so many great bands while compiling BRASIL IN FUZZ and without hesitation I will say that Spiral Guru is one of my favorites. Mrs. Cracklins also digs them a lot and we have been playing "Void" for many of our Happy Hours.

Spiral Guru describes their sound as "heavy rock" and "space rock" and "psychedelic" and these are all part of their sound for sure. I would add "heavy psych" since that gets right to the heart of their sound.

Spiral Guro is:
Vocals - Andrea Ruocco
Guitar - Samuel Pedrosa
Bass - José Ribeiro
Drums - Alexandre H. G. Garcia
Check out the YouTube video for "Oracle" --

How I met Spiral Guru was when they contacted me about getting a song onto BRASIL IN FUZZ my new digital compilation featuring only bands from Brazil. Follow me on Bandcamp to get FIVE HOURS of killer heavy music from Brazil THIS SATURDAY!!

HIPPIE DEATH CULT debut album "111" delivers the heavy psych

111 is the debut album from HIPPIE DEATH CULT
HIPPIE DEATH CULT is one of those bands I've been following on Instagram for so long that I was surprised they were dropping their debut album today. Where's all this groovy music been hiding then and how come their shows are getting such killer write-ups? Well here's your chance if you haven't been following them to dig into one of the very best psychedelic albums of the year. And definitely one of the best debut albums. I'm pretty sure most of the other reviews will focus on the "stoner" and the "doom" which are here on the album, but me and Mrs. Cracklins dug this album this 3 times last night at Happy Hour and I'm glad to report this is 100% heavy psychedelic grooviness. Check it out:

111 is the name of the debut album. 7 tracks just under 45 minutes so you know this is going on vinyl (on August 23 link below). The grooves start right in and ebb and flow for the entire album. Every song is strong on here and the production quality is off the hook. I have more to say but Mrs. Cracklins is hijacking the rest of this review. She and I grew on up on psychedelic music during the 70s so we speak from experience, and here are her comments:

  • Powerful vocals
  • Hard-driving drums
  • Standout guitar performance
  • The bass provides the perfect foundation for a great album
  • Fabulous Debut Album

Hippie Death Cult is:
Ryan Moore  - Drums
Ben Jackson  - Vocals/Keys
Eddie Brnabic  - Guitar
Laura Phillips  - Bass
Plenty of shows coming up so if you are in the PNW check out Hippie Death Cult, and follow them on Bandcamp to stay in the loop:

TELESTHESIA by METADRON is like a greatest hits psych album

TELESTHESIA by METADRON
TELESTHESIA by METADRON
Late night wandering on Instagram got me somehow to this incredible psychedelic trio out of Argentina called METADRON. They have several albums in their catalog already, and you can hear the sound of a band in full command of their skills on TELESTHESIA. It is 8 tracks which are shorter in length, so the album plays out like an EP. Each song is so good this sounds like a greatest hits record. The music is upbeat, the keys get spacey, and the vocals are dreamy. FFO early Brian Jonestown Experience, Black Angels, and any great psychedelic music. Favorite track: Seven Seas.

METADRON is:
Drums & percussion: Nicolás Miele
Bass: Rodrigo Zacha Marchesi
Synth / Rhythm & lead guitar/ Vox: Mariano Miele
Rhythm guitar on track 3 and 8: Alexis Ipi Ayala

"0" is the new album from SUPER POWER psychedelic stoner music with a conscious

"0" is the new album from SUPER POWER
"0" is the new album from SUPER POWER
It's rare these days, but back in the beginning of the psychedelic music movement, it was a much more common for the music to have a focus on environmental or political issues. Which makes sense because so much of the great psychedelic music came out of folk music, and that was all about awareness, change, and consciousness. So it is very refreshing to hear some great psychedelic music on a new album with themes that remind about the environmental and political issues we face today. "0" is the new album from Finland's SUPER POWER and it is classic psychedelic stoner:

In the band's own words:
Thematically, the album centers around the vices of humanity and negligence of our planet (and each other). This is expressed through a contrast between fast and hard hitting songs and slow paced compositions that take their time with the ears, mind and heart of the listener
And dig that album cover by Steven Yoyada! Right on!

SUPER POWER is from Helsinki, Finland with members: Kalle - Vocals, Kristian - Bass, Olli - Drums, Onni - Guitar, Rasmus Guitar. They have vinyl for "0" so check out their page on Bandcamp:

La Grande Armée debut EP is stoner psych bliss

La Grande Armée debut EP
La Grande Armée debut EP
If you like your instrumental stoner to have that extra layer of cosmic guitar sound then you have to listen to the debut EP from La Grande Armée:

You know Fuzzy digs stoner, and I dig psych, and always I am into the instrumental. So when you combine all three sounds then I am pretty much getting my mind blown. La Grande Armée delivers psychedelic guitar work on top of a very solid stoner sound. Just play this entire EP on a loop and have a safe trip.

Here's some info the band sent me:
La Grande Armée is a psych rock/instrumental band formed in San Pedro de la Paz, Chile in 2017. The members of the band are Joaquín Landero (drums and percussion), Juan Carlos Márquez (guitars) and Frank, the Franker (bass). Together they make this astronomic experience of sounds and sensations from the 70s come to life. Landero and Márquez started experimenting with sounds in the summer of 2010, creating a number of music projects. During this period, Frank was also working with other bands. After a few months of rehearsal, La Grande Armée recorded its first EP in February 2018 with Ático Records LTDA record label and it was released in January 28th, 2019. Nowadays, the band is on the songwriting process for their LP record.
