Heavy alt rock "Act Of Nature Beyond Control" EP by Caged Wolves

Heavy alt rock "Act Of Nature Beyond Control" EP by Caged Wolves

With a heavy alt rock sound that is more like UN-caged wolves, Austria's CAGED WOLVES have dropped their new album "Act Of Nature Beyond Control" with nearly an hour of riff-laden, fuzzed-out songs with intense vocals. Deep bass, chugging guitar, and driving drums -- Caged Wolves delivers a seriously heavy set of rockers. Listen to "Act Of Nature Beyond Control" EP by Caged Wolves on Bandcamp:

If you're old school (like me), you will consider Caged Wolves to easily fit into the style of grunge, with their heavy riffs and style that takes them beyond your typical rock band.

In a way, this is a double-EP. The 2nd set of 3 songs are the instrumental versions. I really dig having the option to hear the songs with- and with-out vocals, although overall its the versions with vocals which are strongest.

Fuzzy's favorite: "Through The Rainbow Valley" hits the heavy riffs, extended guitar solos, and intense vocals that make Caged Wolves stand out. This is a really solid EP.

Caged Wolves is from Vienna, Austria.

Psych rock WEDDINGS new album "Haunt"

WEDDINGS had their vinyl release show last week in Vienna, and I've heard from several fans that it was fantastic. One listen to their new release "Haunt" will give you an idea of the mastery this band has over their unique blend of psych rock, grunge, and stoner rock. This album is one catchy riff after the next, but the song-writing and production are all excellent which makes these songs you want to hear over and again. Catchy, yet enduring. And this is before you consider the vocals, with the ongoing duet between Jay and Elena who weave their singing seamlessly to incredible effect. The perfect marriage of voices? Well, why not -- the band is named WEDDINGS, after all. Have a listen:

Weddings is based in Vienna, Austria with members:
  • Jay - Guitar/Vocals
  • Elena - Drums/Vocals
  • Phil - Bass

From the band:
Weddings is an explosive and moody rock power trio indebted in equal parts to grunge, desert rock, psych rock, punk and doom. The brainchild of Canadian Jay Brown (Vocals/Guitars), Spaniard Elena Rodriguez (Vocals/Drums) and Swede Phil Nordling (Bass), the band was created in 2017 after the 3 met while living in Salzburg, Austria.
The band member’s cultural differences helped to forge and fuel Weddings’ uniqueness. Brown’s upbringing on the prairies of Canada, Rodriguez’ childhood in southern Spain and Nordling’s experiences in Gothenburg, Sweden have contributed an impressive diversity to the distinctive songs.
A mutual love of bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Monster Magnet and Alice in Chains helped to unify their creative direction - one that takes many left turns away from conventional rock trappings, while in pursuit of fearless creativity.

CAGED WOLVES alternative stoner rock debut EP

CAGED WOLVES debut EP just dropped with 5 tracks of fuzzy, angry alternative stoner rock. The riffs are fast, the licks are nasty, and the vocals are pissed off. I dig it! Check out Caged Wolves:

Check out the angry lyrics and singing on "Majestic" to get an idea of how Caged Wolves pushes the edge of alternative stoner right into stoner punk. The guitars are pissed off too, with the solo straining to get its point across. After that, the singing goes back to a softer tone as if in defeat. Man this is a really good song on a really good EP. Check these guys out!

You can also hear Caged Wolves on Spotify here.

Another thing I like about this band is that "alternative" for them means "edgy" rather than "shoegaze" and I would even describe them as stoner punks to someone who asked. Their sound is heavy and riffy but fast and angry at the same time, and if you dig them as much as I do, then you should also check out other recent stoner punk albums by bands such as Dead Panda and Mystery Dudes. You could even say there is some grunge going on here too. It's a great thing when a band has their own unique sound, and it has the sounds of many different styles of music. Right on!

And I have to point out, I don't hear a lot of new music coming out of Austria so that's really cool too. Dos Brujos and their non-stop thrash guitars are also from Austria so let's hope we hear more music from there.

Caged Wolves is:
Guitar/Vocals - Johnny Owl
Guitar - Stoner Elvis
Bass - Christian Sorko
Drums - cián
From the band:
Caged Wolves was founded in 2017 in Vienna. Under the motto "MORE FUZZ" the band draws its attention between rock songs and instrumental spherical melodies using the example of legends like Kyuss & Black Sabbath.
Caged Wolves has a show coming up on 12 September in Vienna so follow them to stay in touch:

Aevum by Dos Brujos
Aevum by Dos Brujos

The weekend is officially here. Like clockwork, the two wizards have released another album of instrumental metal jamming on a Friday. Recorded as always in their secret Austrian lair, this session has them trying out some new sounds. If you love metal and you love a good jam, you are in the right place. Stream it on Bandcamp and read Fuzzy Cracklin's review of Aevum by Dos Brujos after the jump...

Fuzzy Cracklins Presents ... Dos Brujos

Everyone out here in the bayou knows a screeching vocal can rile up the gators, so we mostly listen to instrumental music. Metal, of course. Black, thank you. And for black metal, we always turn to Dos Brujos.

Dos Brujos might be the kind of band you could only find on Bandcamp. How else does a boy from the bayous of Louisiana find a pair of black metal jammers in their hidden lair in Austria?

The two wizards (it's just Arminaut on guitar and Dirtyromi on drums) record each jam once and it never gets played again. So if it turns out good or bad, that's it. So far I haven't heard any bad ones. Their style varies on the jams, from thrash to doom to somewhere in between. Sometimes there's a little phaser, too.

I lost count of the number of albums they put out over the past couple of years but I think it's around 40 or so. Which you can easily add to your collection since they are all Name Your Price (as in Free or more). But you'll want to kick over a little cash to these guys so that they can swill a few beers while they jam, and also some of the albums have bonus hidden tracks for those of you with a couple of extra dollars.

There is always a great cover, too. Some are science fiction featuring Bruce Pennington, others are old line art depicting some aspect of the dark arts.

Albums drop mostly on Fridays just in time for the weekend. That's weekly during their creative bursts and a few times a month when the wizards are on holiday.

Dos Brujos don't use vocals but they have used soundclips. Check out this great set of clips from Goodfellas --
